Denisse Hernandez

Through evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Denisse tailors treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each client, guiding them on their path to improved mental well-being.
Denisse Hernandez was born and raised in the South Texas Rio Grande Valley and is a first generation Mexican Artist. Denisse’s work reflects a combination of culture and identity, nature, ad mental health through the use of visual art, photography, or writing.
Denisse observed the presence of psychology in art at an early age through her personal work.
She grew to value the connection, engagement, and influence of art in metal health. This led her to move and pursue her education in Milwaukee, WI, at Mount Mary University. There she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Art Therapy, minors in Psychology and Fine Art, and a Peace Certificate, followed by a Master of Science in Art Therapy with an emphasis in Counseling.
Denisse has held a small number of exhibits throughout Milwaukee, her latest being “Desteyos,” a challenge to permanence through the exploration of identity, mental health, and nature at the
Urban Ecology Center in Menomonee Valley in 2023. She currently dedicates her time to working on her art and providing art therapy and other forms of therapy to clients. She hopes to provide mental health opportunities to Black, Brown, Indigenous, Asian, and any other communities who need it.
Denisse offers in person sessions at our Mayfair office as well as tele-health sessions. Denisse offers sessions in English and Spanish
