Katie Scallon

MS, LPC-IT

As a therapist who has been on my own personal therapy journey, my passion for the practice of counseling began long before I decided to pursue it as my career. Through my own experiences with therapy, I became inspired by the vulnerable process and felt drawn to combine my love for both psychology and people by becoming a therapist myself. I believe that every person has the knowledge and strength within themselves to achieve happiness and fulfillment, but sometimes we need guidance in discovering it. Therapy is a tool that empowers you to find creative paths to your highest self, and I am dedicated to sharing this tool with others.

I attended UW-Madison to pursue a degree in Psychology with a special emphasis on Gender and Women’s Studies, which allowed me to take a humanistic approach to my understanding of the field. It also deepened my appreciation for the ways that our overlapping identities and cultures create our universally unique circumstances. I was able to carry this understanding into my graduate program at Marquette University, where I spent my internship at Rogers Behavioral Health studying addictions. In my time at Rogers, I expanded my knowledge of not only addiction, but also trauma, anxiety, depression, and the importance of healing relationships. I take a relational approach to counseling, meaning I view our connections to others and ourselves as driving forces in our mental health. In my practice, I put an emphasis on cultivating strong therapeutic relationships to help empower you both inside and outside of the therapy space using empathy and genuine care.

I am committed to building relationships and experiences with you that are as unique as you are. I know what it is like to open up about anxiety, depression, and other difficult topics with someone new for the first time, and it is my passion to help others see the healing that doing so holds.
